SkyScan was born from a shared passion for technology, creativity, and precision. What began as a curiosity for drones and aerial imaging quickly evolved into a mission to redefine how data is captured and communicated from the sky.
Co-founded by three like-minded partners, SkyScan blends years of experience across design, engineering, and drone operations. Meet The Team
Eric Larson
Co-Founder
Eric Larson is a technical and creative professional. He built a career in visual media before turning his focus to drone technology and LiDAR scanning. A highly experienced drone pilot with thousands of flight hours, Eric combines technical expertise and creative vision to deliver precise, high-quality aerial data and imagery.
Eric's favorite hobbies include training border collies for sheep herding, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, 3D printing and spending time with his family.
Chris Simpson
Co-Founder
Chris has been immersed in aviation since 1998. With thousands of drone flight hours and a background spanning skydiving, piloting, and aircraft maintenance, Chris brings precision and passion to every LiDAR mapping mission, delivering reliable, high-resolution aerial data for clients across multiple industries.
When he’s not flying drones, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, as well as paragliding, running, and skiing in Utah’s mountains.
Rob Drayna
Co-Founder
Rob Drayna has over eight years of experience in drone piloting, including FPV and LiDAR operations for aerial mapping and data collection. An experienced remote pilot, he combines technical skill and creativity to deliver precise, reliable results.
Before entering the drone industry, Rob spent 20 years in the mental health field, developing a people first approach to teamwork and communication.
Outside of work, he enjoys tuning his Subaru WRX, playing hockey, and spending time with his wife and young son.
